Projects
A sample of my different efforts to further my studies and engage in difficult spaces and complex problems.
Nonprofit Marketing Project:
Seahorse Soccer
An extensive exploration and analysis of a local nonprofit in the Biola University area. This was a semester long marketing research dive into the internal and external trends and needs of Seahorse Soccer. The recommendations were based on primary and secondary data collected over the course of 15 weeks. I spent every Wednesday for these 15 weeks volunteering at an after school soccer program. This allowed me to understand the heart of the organization and help guide the plan in the direction that was best for them. This project provided the Seahorses with actionable and smart goals that would help to improve the business as a whole while also improving the outcomes of the people they serve.
Marketing Research Project:
Cassidy's Corner
An extensive exploration and analysis of a local bagel shop in the Biola University area. It was a semester long project marketing research project on trends and needs of current customers of Cassidy's Corner Cafe La Mirada. The recommendations were based entirely on data from 94 customer surveys conducted over the course of three weeks. This project provided Cassidy's with actionable and smart goals that would help to improve the business as a whole and will also bring more customers in.
Strategic Analysis:
Home Depot
A 15 week internal and external analysis of Home Depot culminating in an hour long presentation to four stakeholders in the home improvement industry. This study of the home improvement industry was conducted with a team of four other Senior Business students. The project improved collaboration, critical thinking, and fast-paced problem solving for myself and my fellow group members.
Missions Conference Analysis
Five marketing students consultation into the systems of advertising and communication used by the Biola Missions Conference, the largest student run conference in the United States. The project and its findings were developed primarily from the findings of a survey with 127 respondents. The survey was created by these students from primary, interviews, and secondary research. The findings were presented to and discussed with the directors of the 2022 Missions Conference.
Target Market Project:
The Fitness Apparel Industry
An extensive exploration and analysis of the fitness apparel industry and its different strengths and weaknesses. The goal of the project was to find different market consumer needs that were not being met and create a new business that met and solved these consumer needs, Anbessa Athletics. The project, written over the course of a semester, helped to grow me in a variety of ways. It pushed me to learn to research well and in a variety of ways, from reading articles to interviewing customers. The project also furthered my abilities to think critically through the creation of a new business and the analysis of problems within the industry.
Peace In Our TIme
A project done to investigate the use of international relations during the Peloponnesian War, which lasted from 431-404 BC. It was an attempt to grasp both Sparta and Athens' failure to communicate well with each and their subsequent descent into war. The differing cultures and lifestyles of both communities, one a democracy the other a monarchy, was fascinating especially when considering the issues of nationalism and isolationism that are occurring today. Many third-world countries today, especially Ethiopia, are struggling with, both, regional and tribal conflicts, as well as, global disagreements.
Negus Negast
Negus Negast is an ongoing project regarding my thoughts and ideas surrounding the life of Haile Selassie, the last of the Ethiopian Emperors. It is the start to a script and pitch for a historical drama. My desire is to display the vast amount of culture of Ethiopia and all that its people ave to offer. It is also an attempt to showcase a man who did much for Ethiopia in both his failings and his successes. This project will continue to be updated and improved. The document attached is a first draft containing my meanderings and musings.
